I went to Bible college with a confident yet erroneous assumption – I thought I would know everything I needed to know about life and the Bible by the time I graduated.
I got a rude wake up call by the end of my freshman year.
I began to realize that the Bible is a book we can spend our whole lives delving into the depths of without ever fully exhausting the treasure inside. It is the most life-changing book on this planet. Unlike other books, its’ words never return void (Is. 55:11) and it has the power to penetrate to the deepest places in us (Heb. 4:12).
Books and Bible studies cannot replace the Bible or match this power, yet I am thankful for the role they can play in our journey of knowing God through His Word. Consequently I am frequently reading and evaluating studies to determine the best resources I can use with my girls. I often find Bible studies for teens lack depth so you will often see me evaluate the women and teen version. I wanted to share my thoughts in case they might help you as well.
“You will be the same person five years from now except for the people you meet, the places you go, the books you read, and the Scripture you memorize.” -Dr. Jay Strack
