Welcome to Discipling Girls!

You walk into a room full of girls.

There is a teenage girl smiling and laughing – you’ve known her since she was little. She’s gone to VBS every summer, maybe joined the church choir, and taken leadership roles in your girls ministry. She’s vibrant and a delight to be around!

Then there is the girl who sits on the floor in the back of the room. Disinterested. Stand-offish. Vocal about the fact that she does not believe in all this God stuff. At times she’s a disruption. She’s hard to connect with no matter how hard you try.

And in between the two extremes are hundreds of girls. Each with their own story of victories, wounds and disappointments. Each in a different place with the Lord. Each walking this road of high school, college or young adult life for the first time. Everyone trying to figure this thing called “life” out.

Then there’s you. Imperfect and with your own story of triumph and scars. Wrestling through your own questions about God and your faith…yet willing. Willing to step into the messy journey of girls ministry. Willing to invest in a younger girl who could be a disciple who makes disciples. Willing to let Him use you so that “the next generation might know him…and arise and tell them to their children so that they should set their hope in God…” (Psalm 78:6-7).

So as you travel through these pages, I am excited – not only for you to add tools to your toolbox when it comes to girls ministry and discipleship – but also to see, hear and be inspired by stories of girls across the country. Girls who are in the trenches of discipleship alongside you. Soli Deo gloria.
